Coalition News
The costs and quality of health care and the resulting outcomes vary, and that variation matters. Health care is often high risk and costly. OCHCP seeks ways to provide better information regarding hospitals, physicians, and plans in order to improve care and encourage better decision making.

Quality-Based Purchasing
OCHCP has been selected by the Agency for Health Quality and Research as one of five purchasers' coalitions to participate in a Learning Network on quality-based purchasing. The Network, which roughly will span a year and a half, will feature opportunities to learn from research evidence as well as from peers' promising practices. The Network will kick-off with a two-day workshop on November 2, 2005.
Leapfrog Measures
OCHCP is asking all hospitals, which provide intensive care services, to respond to the Leapfrog Group Survey on where they stand with meeting three patient safety standards. These standards are difficult to achieve, but there is good evidence that meeting them can dramatically improve patient outcomes and contain costs. To view the results posted by some of Oregon's leading hospitals and to obtain more information on these measures, go to www.leapfroggroup.org.
